There’s a huge range of things to do on Norfolk Island, tourism is the island’s key industry, there’s a host of operators offering tours from half day orientation tours, to shows of the convict settlement area, stunning 360° art exhibition in the form of a Cyclorama, progressive dinners to island homes and much, much more.
Contact our friendly Hibiscus Crown team for any recommendations or tour bookings for your stay whilst on Norfolk, pre-booking is highly recommended. Or alternatively our Hibiscus office is open each morning and Guest Service Manager is on call at any time throughout your stay.
In addition to organised tours there are lots of things to do independently under your own steam. The island’s golf course is one of the most picturesque courses in the world bordered by the sea and historic settlement buildings and the fees are incredible (where else do you pay $70 green fees for a week?) “The Norfolk Island golf course has been described as the world’s “Hardest ‘easy’ 9-hole golf course”… it could be the best 9-hole course you will ever play” Inside Golf magazine.
In fact all Norfolk sports clubs invite visitors to join in: the Lawn Bowls club, Tennis, Squash, Archery, Clay Target, Pistol shooting club to name a few. Many run their own events through the year.
Another facet that makes Norfolk Island unique to other South Pacific destinations is its history including previous Polynesian, Colonial and the current Pitcairn descendant settlement. Norfolk is alive with stories, captivating drama and history. Norfolk Island Museum opens four museums through the week including the HMS Sirius museum, dedicated to showcasing artefacts collected from the wreck site of HMS Sirius at the nearby Kingston reef.
And then there’s fishing … from the rocks, the jetties or deep sea sports fishing. ”I’ve just returned from the best fishing trip of my life. Yes, that’s how good our trip to Norfolk Island was. Not only did we experience incredible fishing for a large range of different species, but we quickly fell in love with the laid back lifestyle on the island and the wonderful people we met along the way.” – Chloe Taylor (She Fishes).
With one third of the island devoted to national parks the island offers stunning nature walks including the Bridle Track and Bird Rock walk to Captain Cook monument alive with bird activity and beautiful views of the island’s own little “12 Apostles”.
Really we’re just scratching the surface! There is so much to see and do on Norfolk Island from laidback tours to more adventurous kayaking or trekking on neighbouring Phillip Island, it’s true our island home is full of surprises.
